PXP Energy Corporation (PXP), formerly Philex Petroleum Corporation, was incorporated on December 27, 2007. The Company is primarily engaged in exploring and producing crude oil and natural gas through its interests in petroleum service contracts (SC) and holdings in resource development companies. On August 8, 2016, the Securities and Exchange Commission approved the change in name to the present one.
PXP holds interests in various petroleum SCs in the Philippines held directly and through its major subsidiary, Forum Energy Limited (FEL). These include a 50% operating interest in SC 75 in Northwest Palawan; 12.5% non-operating interests in SC 80 and SC 81 in the Sulu Sea; and a 6.8439% non-operating interest in SC 86 offshore Northwest Palawan. It has also applied for a 100% operating interest in Block A North Recto Bank offshore West Palawan, which remains under evaluation by the Department of Energy.
Through its 98.08% effective interest in FEL, the Company holds a 70% operating interest in SC 72 in Recto Bank, which covers the Sampaguita natural gas discovery; a 100% operating interest in SC 40 in North Cebu; and minority interests in other service contracts offshore Northwest Palawan, including a 4.69174% interest in the producing SC 88 Galoc field. The Company also wholly owns Pitkin Petroleum Limited and Brixton Energy & Mining Corporation.
